Mizzou Head Coach Frank Haith

Opening Statement....
"Obviously, it was a really good win for us. Long Beach State is a really good ball club and well coached. I have a lot of respect for Dan (Monson) and the job he does. Getting (Tyler) Lamb gives him another player who can really score the ball. It was just a really gritty win for us going into league play. I thought we, coming off a break, established ourselves and gave ourselves the opportunity to finish off the game right."

On the changes in rebounding throughout the game...
"We were not alert and they were attacking the glass and we were just not blocking out and offensive rebounding. The first eight minutes they had seven. I thought we did a much better job there at the end of the first half and into the second half. Then, that is one of the struggles of this team is our ability to rebound the ball and we didn't do a good job there. It was one of the first times we have come off a three-day break and I was encouraged how we played. Long Beach State is a really good team. I think they are going to contend for their league championship and if you look at their schedule they played some really good teams on the road."

On the confidence in the team going into league play...
"We are two free throws away from being 13-0. So, I think we are in good shape. We are a stop away from being 13-0. I think we played a really good schedule and I think our BPI is in the top 20 in the country so; we played a really good schedule. I like where we are at right now."

Jabari Brown, Guard
On the team heading into SEC play...
"I feel like we are in a good position. We've been through a lot of close games and been through a lot of tough games like this one right here. Our nonconference schedule has prepared us and I feel like we are getting better on both sides of the basketball."

On Long Beach State...
"I wasn't surprised. I'm from the West Coast so I know Long Beach State has a good team every year. Their record isn't the greatest this year, but they've played pretty much everybody on the road. We weren't underestimating them at all. We knew we were going to get our best punch."

On defending Long Beach State's top Tyler Lamb and Mike Caffey...
"We did a good job making them get tough looks. They both hit some tough shots, but that's what good players are going to do. I just feel like if you make players take difficult shots, they're going to miss more than they're going to make."

Ryan Rosburg, Forward
On team rebounding effort...
"I think we started off terribly with rebounding off the glass. I think it was just a team effort to try and box out and get the rebounds. They were killing us. Dave said they had seven offensive rebounds in the first few minutes and that was unacceptable. I think it was all of us just boxing out."

On the break between games...
"I don't think it was anything particular. I think we started off sluggish today, but we turned it on when we needed to and pulled out the victory."

On defensive effort to end the half...
"I think the first half they were getting a lot of open 3s and Lamb was getting loose. He's a good player and he knocked down some shots. I think we started to realize that and close out on shooters and execute our game plan.

Long Beach State Head Coach Dan Monson

On the close game and how his team played...
"I was happy with the way they competed, but I wasn't happy with the way they played. I don't think we played very smart, I think we settled for way too many jump shots. I feel like we had an opportunity to win and we didn't take advantage of it. You don't get those opportunities on a top-25 team with this caliber very often. It was a great atmosphere for us to come into with the kids out of school and everybody at the bowl game and we just didn't take advantage of our opportunity as well as I would've liked."

On setting for jump shots and Mizzou's defense...
"There's no question their length bothered us. Their length kept us out of the paint. I told our guys 'just because you can't score in the paint, we have to get the ball in there.' We just didn't do enough of that as the game went on and we settled for a lot of jump shots."

On Tyler Lamb's play...
"He has to take better shots and I don't feel like he was engaged enough defensively. He was just a little bit disengaged. You have to come into a game here and can't take any possession off, you have to be focuses on what we're doing. I just don't think we were focused enough on each possession. Again, we have a small margin for error coming into a situation like this and we used it all up in too many areas."
