Ranked 2nd in the Big 12 in blocked shots (2.0 p/g), and ranked in the league's top-10 in double-doubles (4th -- 11), offensive rebounding (5th -- 3.4 per game), total rebounding (6th -- 7.9 p/g), and field goal percentage (6th -- 55.1%) ... Avg. 12.3 PPG & 7.5 RPG in NCAA Tournament ... Had monster double-double in Sweet 16 vs. UCLA, with 14 pts. & 14 rebs. ... Foul trouble limited him to 9 pts. & 4 rebs. in West Final vs. Oklahoma ... Was named Honorable Mention All-Big 12 by league coaches, to Big 12 all-freshman team by league writers, and was runner-up for league freshman of the year honors ... Led MU in rebounding (7.8 rpg) and was 3rd in scoring (9.0 ppg) ... Became the first freshman to lead MU in rebounding since Stan Ray in 1975-76 (8.3 rpg) ... Ended year with 65 blocks on the season, which already ranks him 10th on the MU career chart ... Ranked among all Big 12 players in 4 categories: Off. rebounds (2nd), Blocks (4th), Rebounding (6th), & Double-Doubles (5th) ... Was a force in the middle for Pershing High School in Detroit, Mich., where he helped lead the Doughboys to a 22-3 record as a senior, and an appearance in the Michigan Class A state championship game, where they were tripped up by Lansing Waverly ... Averaged 19 points and 14 rebounds a game, and was named to the Michigan all-state Dream Team by the Detroit Free Press ... Honorable mention All-USA selection by USA Today ... Shot 58 percent from the floor, and 78 percent from the foul line ... Also earned Class A first-team all-state honors after his senior season ... Averaged 16.7 points 13.2 rebounds and 3.1 blocks a game as a junior, and was tabbed as an all-state selection ... Was an all-state selection as a sophomore as well, and was also a three-time all-Detroit first-team selection ... Led Pershing to a top-five ranking in the state each of the last two years there ...
