COLUMBIA, Mo. - Tyler House and Ryan Phillips combined for a four-hit shutout as the Gold Team defeated the Black Team, 6-0, in game one of the annual Mizzou baseball Fall World Series on Tuesday (Oct. 22) at Taylor Stadium. House started the game and went 5.0 innings, allowing just two hits and two walks with four strikeouts to earn the win. Phillips earned the save after throwing the final 4.0 innings, allowing just two hits and a walk with a pair of strikeouts. Gold now leads the best-of-seven series, 1-0. Game two will be tomorrow night at 5 p.m. at Taylor Stadium.

The impressive pitching performance by the Gold Team was backed by five runs over the first three innings, all being charged to Black starter Griffin Goodrich, who was tagged with the loss. He went 4.0 innings and allowed seven hits while striking out five and walking three. Andrew Scwaab and Austin Tribby combined to throw three innings of no-hit baseball for Gold, but the Black team could not cut into the lead as it tallied just four hits on the night, three from Logan Bone, who reached base in four plate appearances Tuesday.

Sean Ullrich drove in three runs for the Black Team as he went 2-for-4 with a run scored as well. Dylan Kelly, Kendall Keeton and Shane Segovia also drove in runs for the Black Team.
