Comeback Win Gives Black 2-0 Advantage in FWS

COLUMBIA, Mo.- - The Black team picked up a 12-6 come-from-behind victory on Tuesday to take a 2-0 lead in Mizzou's Fall World Series. After falling behind 6-1, the Black squad scored the final 11 runs of the game, including putting together two four-run innings.

The Gold team scored three runs in the first inning on the singles, then plated three more runs in the third.

Team Black scored once in the bottom of the first inning, then started its comeback with a four-run third inning, which included back-to-back RBI doubles from junior Jonah Schmidt and freshman Blake Brown.

The Black squad added a run in the fifth and plated two in the bottom of the sixth inning, before putting another four-spot on the board in the seventh. The final two runs of the seventh inning scored on an RBI single by sophomore Conner Mach.

Senior Michael Liberto was 3-for-3 and scored four runs and junior Ryan Ampleman had two hits for the Black team. Redshirt freshman Andre Rodriguez drove in three runs for Gold, including a two-run single in the third inning.

The Black team won the first game of the series on Monday, 12-9. The 2009 Fall World Series will continue with game three on Friday at 6 p.m. at Taylor Stadium.
