COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou baseball team is busy preparing for its inaugural season in the Southeastern Conference and fans are invited to check out the progress this Friday as the team will host a public scrimmage. The nine-inning contest is slated to begin at 5 p.m. at Taylor Stadium with pregame starting at 3 p.m. Admission to the event is free.

The Tigers are coming off of their first-ever Big 12 Championship last season and their eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in 10 seasons. Mizzou lost several starters from last year's Big 12 Championship team but returns the bulk of the team that won 32 games last season, including Friday night ace Rob Zastryzny (Corpus Christi, Texas).

Also, the program remains in steady hands as it transition to what is widely regarded as college baseball's premier league in the SEC as head coach Tim Jamieson was given a contract extension that will keep him in the dugout through the 2015 season.
