Brett Nicholas is the every day catcher for the Rangers' AAA affiliate
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Yesterday, MUTigers.com took a look at what the current baseball Tigers are doing in summer ball around the country. Today, we take a look at what some former Tigers are doing in the minor leagues. Below is a quick look.
Rob Zastryzny - Daytona Cubs - Chicago Cubs A - Starting Pitcher
Rob Zastryzny has made 13 starts this season for the Daytona Cubs. In those 13 starts, he is 1-6 with a 5.31 ERA. Over 59.1 innings, he has struck out 60 batters. In Zastryzny's most recent start, he pitched five shut out innings and struck out four hitters.
Jake Walsh - Hagerstown Suns - Washington Nationals A - Relief Pitcher
Jake Walsh has made 20 appearances out of the bullpen for the Hagerstown Suns, occupying the closer role. After a slow April and May that included some time on the disabled list, the former Tiger is hitting .413 in June. On June 14, Turner went 3-for-4 with two doubles in the game. His season totals are two home runs, 22 RBIs, 56 hits, 26 runs, a .342 OBP, and a .378 SLG percentage.
Eric Garcia - Lychburg Hillcats - Atlanta Braves A Advanced - Second Base
Eric Garcia has split time this season between the Class A and A Advanced teams for the Atlanta Braves organization. He has played in 34 games for Lynchburg where he is hitting .271 with eight RBIs. On June 15, Garcia went 3-for-4 with a double, RBI, a run, and two walks.
Blake Brown - Rome Braves - Atlanta Braves A - Outfield
Blake Brown has played in 63 games this season, batting .234 with three home runs, 23 RBIs, 49 hits, and 27 runs. Brown has 10 stolen bases in 12 attempts. On June 13, he went 2-for-3 with two walks. Brown is hitting an impressive .303 on the road this season.
Phil McCormick - Richmond Flying Squirrels - San Francisco Giants AA - Relief Pitcher
Phil McCormick has appeared in 25 games out of the bullpen for the San Francisco's AA affiliate. He is 1-3 on the season with a 5.11 ERA over 37 innings pitched. McCormick has done a good job keeping the ball down in the strike zone this season with an outstanding groundout/air-out of 2.71.
Tyler Clark - Lakeland Flying Tigers - Detroit Tigers A Advanced - Relief Pitcher
Tyler Clark has pitched in 16 games for Lakeland, posting a 3-3 record with a 4.30 ERA over 23 innings pitched. In 23 innings, he has struck out 22 batters, allowing 12 runs on 19 hits and 13 walks. Opponents are hitting just .213 against Clark.
Brett Nicholas - Round Rock Express - Texas Rangers AAA - Catcher
