2008 LOUISVILLE SLUGGER ALL-AMERICAN TEAMS
Junior Aaron Crow has been named to the Louisville Slugger All-America First Team, as announced by Collegiate Baseball on Thursday. Crow is the 14th player in MU history to earn first team honors and is the first since Dave Silvestri in 1988. The Louisville Slugger All-America Team was selected by the staff of Collegiate Baseball.
Crow, the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, is 12-0 on the season with a 2.56 ERA. He is tied for the national lead in wins and has set a new school record with his 12 victories. Crow has moved into fourth place in the MU record book for strikeouts in a season with 117, which leads the Big 12 Conference and is fifth in the NCAA. His 267 career strikeouts are third best in school history.
A semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, the Roger Clemens Award and the Golden Spikes Award, Crow had a streak of 43.0 scoreless innings pitched earlier in the season, which is the fourth longest stretch in NCAA history.
He is the first Tiger to earn All-American honors since Max Scherzer was named to the second team in 2005.
Crow will get the start as the Tigers open play in the NCAA Coral Gables Regional at 11 a.m. central time on Friday against Ole Miss. Missouri has qualified for its sixth-straight NCAA Tournament and is the second seed in the Regional.
