Mizzou senior Jacob Priday has been named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. Priday set a Big 12 Conference record with four home runs in Missouri's 31-12 win over Texas on Friday. He finished the three-game series against UT with a .583 batting average (7-for-12) with four home runs, a double and 11 runs batted in. His slugging percentage for the weekend was 1.667.
In Friday's series opener, Priday went 5-for-5 and set the single-game school record with four home runs, nine RBI and six runs scored. The four home runs are the most ever in the Big 12 Conference and are tied for third most in NCAA history.
He followed Friday's performance by going 2-for-4 on Saturday, with a double, two runs scored and a pair of RBI.
With the four homers, Priday moves within one of the Missouri school record with 44 for his career. The 11 RBI on the weekend give him 220 for his career, which is just two shy of the Mizzou career mark.
Earlier in the week, Priday was 1-for-3 with a three-run home run against Missouri State on Wednesday.
For the season, Priday leads the team with a .347 average, 11 home runs and 45 RBI. His batting average is fourth best in the Big 12 and he his tied for the conference lead in homers.
