As part of National Student-Athlete Day, Mizzou student-athletes will be collecting old tennis shoes at Saturday's baseball game against Oklahoma State to support the Nike Reuse-A-Shoe campaign.
All tennis shoes (except cleats) will be accepted and all fans who bring shoes will receive a coupon for free popcorn.
Through the Reuse-A-Shoe program, old tennis shoes are collected by Nike and recycled into material used to build new athletic playing surfaces, such as basketball courts and soccer fields, for underprivileged areas.
Since the birth of Reuse-A-Shoe, more than 20 million pairs of athletic shoes have been collected and more than 250 sport surfaces have been created; giving thousands of young people access to new playgrounds and athletic facilities around the world.
Saturday's game between Missouri and Oklahoma State will start at 4 p.m.
