Three Mizzou baseball players were named to the All-Tournament Team of the Pepsi Baseball Classic, which was played this past weekend in Gainesville, Fla. Senior Zane Taylor, junior Max Scherzer and sophomore Jacob Priday earned spots on the team after their performances in the three games over the weekend.

Taylor hit .583 (7-for-12) in the three games played in the Classic, including two doubles. He drove in two runs and scored four times. He also was 1-for-1 in stolen base attempts. On Friday, in Missouri's 14-5 win over No. 1 Florida, Taylor was 4-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored. He followed that win one hit against Wake Forest on Saturday and was 2-for-3 with an RBI against Ohio State on Sunday.

Scherzer recorded the win on the mound against Florida, allowing just one run on three hits and striking out eight in seven innings of work. He faced the minimum through the first three innings and struck out seven of the first 12 Gator batters he faced. He moved to 2-0 having recorded the win in each of his two starts this year.

Priday matched Taylor's .583 batting average for the weekend, as he was 7-for-12 with three doubles and four RBI in the three games. He opened the weekend with a 5-for-6 night, his second five-hit game of his career, in the win over Florida. He had two doubles, drove in three runs and scored twice against the Gators. He followed that with a 2-for-3 day, with a double and a run batted in against Wake Forest on Saturday.

Mizzou (5-4) will take on Illinois State at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in the 2006 home opener at Taylor Stadium.
