Senior Aaron Senne hit his 10th home run of the season in the top of the eighth inning to break an tie score as Mizzou defeated No. 12 Oklahoma, 12-11 on Sunday in Norman, Okla. Senne finished 3-for-5 on the day, extending hit hitting streak to 16 games. He has had at least two hits in each of the last six games and has had three hits in five of the last six outings.
Mizzou (18-13, 3-6 Big 12) led 2-1 after three innings, scoring their runs on RBI doubles from seniors Michael Liberto and Senne in the top of the third.
Oklahoma (25-7, 5-5) got on the board with a run in the bottom of the third inning then scored five runs in the fourth inning, all unearned. All five runs came on home runs by Max White and Tyler Ogle.
After the first batter of the fifth inning for Mizzou was retired, the next 11 reached safely as Missouri answered OU's five-run bottom of the fourth with eight runs in the top of the fifth. Senne and redshirt freshman Andreas Plackis had two-run singles in the inning and freshmen Dane Opel and Kale Gaden added RBI singles as the Tigers took a 10-6 lead.
After the Sooners put a pair of run on the board in the bottom of the fifth, junior Brett Nicholas connected on his sixth home run of the year in the sixth, sending a solo shot over the rightfield wall.
Oklahoma tied the game when Cody Reine connected on a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Next up for the Tigers is a trip to Springfield, Mo. on Wednesday for a matchup with Missouri State. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. MU returns to Taylor Stadium next weekend as it hosts Oklahoma State in a three-game series, starting at 6 p.m. on Friday.
