COLUMBIA, Mo.- -
No. 10 Oklahoma scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning and took a 7-4 win over Missouri on Saturday afternoon at Taylor Stadium. OU has won each of the first two games of the weekend series.
The Tigers fall to 14-16 on the season and 4-7 in conference play, while OU goes to 25-6 overall and 6-2 in the Big 12.
The Sooners scored first on Saturday, putting two runs on the board in the second inning with both runs scoring on a single by Kaleb Herren.
Mizzou scored three times in the bottom of the third inning which started with a lead off home run by senior Kyle Mach. The homer was his first of the season. Junior Michael Liberto followed with a single and senior Ryan Lollis was hit by a pitch. Junior Trevor Coleman then doubled to drive in Liberto and Lollis would score on a sacrifice fly by junior Greg Folgia.
The Sooners regained the lead with a four-run top of the fifth. OU batted around in the fifth and got RBI hits from Garrett Buechele and Casey Johnson.
In the bottom the fifth inning, Folgia hit his team-leading fourth home run of the season. The solo shot pulled Mizzou within two runs. OU added a run in the ninth as Aaron Baker led off the inning with a home run to give the Sooner the three-run advantage.
The Tigers used the pitcher-by-committee on Saturday, sending 10 pitchers to the mound. Missouri has now used the planned staff pitching effort nine times this season and Saturday's loss was just the second when the staff pitching is utilized.
The three-game series will conclude at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Taylor Stadium.
