COLUMBIA, Mo. - - No. 4 Mizzou snapped its three-game losing streak with a 10-2 win over Lincoln on Wednesday night at Taylor Stadium. Leading by one heading to the bottom of the eighth inning, the Tigers exploded for six runs to take command of the game.
Missouri (21-6) scored two runs in the first, then added one in the bottom of the fifth to take a 3-0 advantage.
Lincoln (7-24) cut into the lead with a two-run top of the seventh inning. The Tigers answered with a run in the bottom of the seventh when sophomore Greg Folgia led off with a double then scored as senior Jacob Priday drew a bases loaded walk.
Mizzou then put up six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take control of the game. Eleven batters went to the plate in the Tigers' half of the eighth as MU scored the six runs on six hits, a pair of walks and an error. Folgia, senior Kurt Calvert and junior Ryan Lollis all had RBI singles in the eighth and freshman Rex Meyr delivered a two-run base hit to drive in the final two runs of the frame.
Folgia, Lollis and senior Lee Fischer each had two hits in the game and Calvert, Priday and Meyr drove in a pair of runs for the Tigers.
Freshman Kelly Fick started on the hill and gave up just two hits in three scoreless innings. He struck out two and was credited with the win, his first as a Tiger.
Mizzou will host Oklahoma State in a three-game series this weekend at Taylor Stadium. Game one is slated for 6:30 p.m. on Friday night with junior Aaron Crow schedule to take the mound for the Tigers.
