COLUMBIA, Mo. - - Nine pitchers each turned in one inning of work for Missouri on Saturday, teaming up for a 6-2 win over No. 3 Texas A&M at Taylor Stadium. Senior Ian Berger pitched a 1-2-3 first inning and was credited with the victory, as MU took a 2-0 lead in the weekend series.

The Tigers have found the pitcher-by-committee plan successful in recent midweek games and employed the plan on Saturday against Texas A&M.

After Berger sat the Aggies down in order in the first, the Mizzou offense gave the pitching staff all the runs it would need by scoring five in the bottom of the first inning. Junior Michael Liberto led off the inning with a single and later scored when junior Greg Folgia reached safely on a fielders' choice.

Senior Steve Gray then drove in one on a two-out single, which was followed by a two-run double from senior Kyle Mach. Missouri batted around in the first inning, collecting the five runs on four hits and two walks.

Brett Parsons put Texas A&M on the board with a solo home run in the second inning, before the Tigers answered with run in the bottom of the third when freshman Conner Mach singled and scored on a double into the left centerfield gap by Gray.

Gray was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored on Saturday. Conner Mach also had two hits, finishing 2-for-2 on the afternoon. He also walked twice in the game.

The Aggies plated a run on a wild pitch in the sixth inning for their second run of the ballgame.

Following Berger, sophomore Tyler Clark, freshman Jeff Emens, sophomore Kelly Fick, freshman Ryan Clubb, sophomore Phil McCormick, senior Ryan Gargano, junior Greg Folgia and sophomore Brad Buehler each turned in an inning on the mound for MU.

Mizzou improves to 11-10 on the year and is over .500 for the first time this season. The Tigers are 3-2 in the Big 12. Texas A&M falls to 13-9 on the year and 2-3 in league play.

Missouri will go for its first series sweep of the season in game three of the series tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Taylor Stadium.
