McKee's Double Leads Tigers to 3-2 Win Over ASU

SURPRISE, Ariz.-- - Missouri avenged Thursday's loss to Arizona State with a 3-2 win over the Sun Devils on Friday in the first day of play at the Coca-Cola Classic in Surprise, Ariz. All three of the Tigers' runs came on a two-out double by senior John McKee in the eighth inning, his second hit on the day.

Trailing 2-0 in the eighth, the Tigers mounted their best threat of the night, loading the bases on a pair of doubles and a single by freshman Lee Fischer. With two outs in the inning, McKee cleared the bases with a three-run double to give MU its first lead of the game.

McKee finished 2-for-4 in the game with the three runs batted in.

Freshman Greg Folgia, who came out of the bullpen to record the final out of the seventh inning, struck out Jarred Bogany for the final out of the game and earned the win with 2.1 innings of scoreless work, allowing just two hits and striking out three.

The score was 1-0 after the Sun Devils' leadoff batter, Brett Wallace, homered over the wall in right field just two pitches into the bottom of the first inning. ASU made it a two-run lead by plating a run in the second inning as Petey Paramore doubled and scored on a single by Jarred Bogany.

Sophomore Rick Zagone would settle in, retiring 14 of the final 17 batters he faced. He left in the seventh inning, having allowed two runs, both earned, on five hits, striking out four and walking one.

The Tigers had lost to ASU the previous night by a score of 7-1.

The Coca-Cola Classic with continue tomorrow as the Tigers take on Gonzaga at 11 a.m. MT (Noon p.m. CT) before facing Oregon State at 9:45 a.m. MT (10:45 a.m. CT) on Sunday.
