Made return from injury with one inning of work in season opener against Portland ... had four outings in which he recorded four strikeouts ... was third on the team in appearances (22) and opposing batting average (.248) ... did not allow a hit in six-straight appearances from Feb. 20-March 18 ... struck out four and did not give up a hit in 2.0 innings against North Dakota State on March 18 ... recorded the save, pitching the final inning against Kansas State on March 27 ... picked up the win with two innings of work in relief against Saint Louis on April 20 ... did not allow a hit in three innings out of the bullpen against Harvard in the NCAA Tournament, striking out four batters.

Made 19 appearances ... led team with eight saves, four in Big 12 play ... eight saves places him in a tie for third for the most in a season by a Tiger ... in first 11 appearances, recorded six saves in 21 innings of relief, giving up only five earned runs and struck out 22 during that stretch ... had first two saves after 3.1 innings of work at both UNC-Wilmington and vs. Creighton ... pitched the final 3.1 innings against Texas on March 16, allowing no runs and just one hit ... didn't allow a run in recording saves 4-7, posting five strike outs in six total innings ... picked up fourth save of the season against Kansas, recording 2.0 inning of shutout work ... retired three straight batters to close out Illinois State for his fifth save of the season ... allowed just one run on three hits in 2.0 innings of work against Kansas State for save number six ... recorded another save by shutting out Nebraska in the ninth inning to preserve the 4-3 win ... last save came at Baylor on April 20 as he gave up two runs in 1.1 innings of work, to preserve the 12-8 win.

Named a first-team relief pitcher on the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team chosen by Collegiate Baseball ... chosen to All-Big 12 Freshman Team ... became the team's closer and responded with five saves and three relief wins ... appeared in 26 games, sixth-most in school history ... ranked among Big 12's leaders in appearances and saves ... picked up a win and a save in back-to-back series (Washington and Nebraska) and two saves in another (Baylor) ... had a streak of 11 scoreless innings over eight appearances ... struck out 12 batters during streak ... struck out four batters in three innings of work in Baylor series and allowed two hits in four innings of work in Nebraska series ... struck out four batters on five different occasions ... did not allow a hit or a run while striking out three in two-inning stint against Kansas State ... made first-ever start (limited by pitch count) against Southeast Missouri and struck out four batters in three innings... named to Fall 2001 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
