COLUMBIA, Mo. -- After running to an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday (Nov. 14), Mizzou cross country freshman Kaitie Vanatta (Littleton, Colo.) has earned an at-large bid to the NCAA National Championships, as announced by the NCAA on Sunday (Nov. 15). The berth is Vanatta's first trip to the national championships as she is a true freshman this season.

The bid for Vanatta gives Mizzou a sixth-straight at-large selection as the Tigers had sent a runner in each of the past five seasons. She is the first Tiger on the women's side to represent Mizzou at the NCAA Championships since the entire women's team took 11th overall back in 2004.

The eighth-place nod for Vanatta gave her All-Midwest Region honors to go along with the All-Big 12 honor that she secured with her 11th-place finish at the Big 12 Championships on Oct. 31. Vanatta has been the Tigers' top finisher in four of the Tigers' races this season.

The NCAA Championships will be held on Nov. 23 in Terre Haute, Ind. For a complete preview and recap of Vanatta's journey to the NCAA Championships - and everything that is Mizzou cross country - stay tuned to
