Jeffries Advanced to NCAA Championships

Tiger senior to make first appearance in national meet

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The NCAA announced Sunday night that Missouri senior Garett Jeffries (Clarkson Valley, Mo.) has been accepted into the field of competitors that will participate in the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday, November 24, in Terre Haute, Ind. Jeffries placed 17th overall at the NCAA Midwest Championships on Saturday to earn All-Region honors.

Jeffries becomes the fifth Tiger to advance to the NCAA Championships as an individual in the last five years. Dan Hedgecock represented Mizzou at the national meet in 2007 while Tim Ross did so in 2006 and 2004. Matt Noonan trekked to Indiana in 2005.

Jeffries earned has twice earned All-Big 12 honors on the track at the 10,000-meter distance.

Tiger Men Fifth at Big 12 Meet

The Missouri cross country teams competed Saturday morning in the Big 12 Cross Country Championships in Ames, Iowa. Mizzou's men placed fifth (155), behind four nationally ranked teams, and ahead of No. 30 Texas for its fifth-straight season in the top half of the league. The Tiger women placed 12th.

Big 12 Cross Country Meet Comes Saturday

The Missouri cross country teams will participate in the first Big 12 Conference Championship to be held in the 2008-09 school year on Saturday, taking to Iowa State's course in Ames. The Tiger men have finished in the league's top half in each of the last four years while the Tiger women have placed in the conference's top four in eight of the 11 years of the Big 12's existence.

The Missouri cross country squads competed Saturday morning in the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. Junior Garett Jeffries finished 35th in the "Blue" race.

Missouri sophomore Kinsey Farren was honored by the Big 12 Tuesday as its Female Runner of the Week for her performance at Saturday's Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational.
