Storms Ready to Take On NCAA Championship

Columbia, Mo. - Senior Max Storms (Kansas City, MO) will finish out his impressive senior season with style, as he prepares for the NCAA National Championship on Saturday in Louisville, KY.  Storms is the first member of the Men's Cross Country team to qualify for the Championship since Garrett Jeffries finished 95th in 2008.  Storms was 18th overall at the NCAA Midwest Regional last Friday, running a 10K PR of 30:47.38 to earn an All-Region honor and his spot at the National Championship.

Storms led the way for the Tigers in four out of the five meets his senior season, helping his team to a 5th place finish in the Midwest Region and 3rd place in their first SEC Championship.  Individually, he earned a Second Team All-SEC honor along with his All-Region recognition, as well as two new personal records in the 8K and 10K.  His 8K PR came at the Adidas Wisconsin Invitational on Oct. 21, where he ran to 49th in 24:01.  His 10K PR of 30:47.38 at the Midwest Regional was a 34-second drop from his previous best time from 2010.

Storms is one of the 255 men who will compete in the event hailed as one of the most competitive cross country meets in the world.  The day starts with the Women's Championship 6K at noon, followed by the Men's Championship 10K at 1:15 p.m.  Races will be held at the E.P.
