COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou cross country team saw eight of its members land on the Academic All-Big 12 team, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 26). Five Tiger women landed on the first team while three Tiger men earned spots on the first team as well. All eight of the Tigers' selections landed on the first team as all eight finished with grade point averages (GPA) above 3.20.
On the women's side, five cross country runners were selected to the first team. Senior Jessica Armstrong (Dorr, Mich.), sophomore Bailey Belvis (Prosper, Texas), junior Aimee Bonte (Fenton, Mo.), senior Kinsey Farren (Dallas, Texas) and sophomore Laura Roxberg (Overland Park, Kan.) were the five selections on the women's side. Bonte and Armstrong led Mizzou as both finished with GPAs of 3.71, doing so in accountancy and English, respectively.
On the men's side, Kevin McKee (Kansas City, Mo.), Max Storms (Kansas City, Mo.) and Ricky West (Ontario, Canada) all landed on the Academic All-Big 12 men's first team. Storms led the trio with a 3.92 GPA as a civil engineering major while McKee compiled a 3.88 GPA as a mechanical engineering major. West also compiled an impressive mark as he posted a 3.80 GPA as a general business major.
Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services, the men's cross country academic all-league squad consisted of 57 first team members combined with 13 on the second team, while the women had 66 first team recipients and 11 student-athletes on the second team. First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
