Cross Country Climbs Regional Polls

COLUMBIA, Mo. – After a strong showing at the Notre Dame Invitational last weekend, the Mizzou cross country program continues to climb in the polls as the Tiger men stand 13th in the latest Midwest Region rankings from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Mizzou’s women’s squad, meanwhile, rose from 14th to 10th in the region following a ninth-place finish at Notre Dame.The latest poll was announced Monday (Oct. 3) by the USTFCCCA.

This marks the highest ranking for the Mizzou men since they stood 11th in the Midwest Region on Sept. 13, 2010, following their win in the Missouri Cross Country Challenge. Mizzou is joined in the poll by fellow Big 12 Conference members Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Iowa State and Kansas.

Mizzou’s women’s squad also moved in the right direction, securing their highest ranking since they were sixth in the Midwest Region last Sept. 13. Other Big 12 schools in the women’s rankings are Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Oklahoma and Kansas State.
