COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou cross country program is off to a good start with preseason rankings, released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Monday morning (August 27). Both teams begin the season ranked 6th, an improvement on last year's 7th place finishes in the Midwest Region.

"It's a good starting point for both teams," said Head Coach Joe Lynn, who took over the men's team last year, and is beginning his first season as the head women's coach. "We obviously want to be higher at the end of the season, but have a lot of work to do before we start thinking about that."

Both teams are looking forward to beginning their season as new additions to the Southeastern Conference (SEC), a change which was announced last November. The season kicks off this Friday (August 31) at home with the Missouri Cross Country Open. The meet will be held at the A.L Gustin Golf Course on Mizzou's campus, with the women's 5k beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the men following at 7:00 p.m.
