The Missouri cross country teams competed Saturday morning in the Big 12 Cross Country Championships in Ames, Iowa. Mizzou's men placed fifth (155), behind four nationally ranked teams, and ahead of No. 30 Texas for its fifth-straight season in the top half of the league. The Tiger women placed 12th.
The Missouri cross country teams will participate in the first Big 12 Conference Championship to be held in the 2008-09 school year on Saturday, taking to Iowa State's course in Ames. The Tiger men have finished in the league's top half in each of the last four years while the Tiger women have placed in the conference's top four in eight of the 11 years of the Big 12's existence.
The Missouri cross country squads competed Saturday morning in the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. Junior Garett Jeffries finished 35th in the "Blue" race.
Missouri sophomore Kinsey Farren was honored by the Big 12 Tuesday as its Female Runner of the Week for her performance at Saturday's Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational.
The cross country teams competed at two separate locations Saturday. The men took 11th in Minneapolis while the women placed second in their 5k race in Chicago.
