Tiger Women Finish 10th at Notre Dame Invitational

Notre Dame, Ind. - The University of Missouri women's cross country team finished 10th at the Notre Dame Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind. Friday. Senior Amanda Bales (Bettendorf, Iowa) led the way for the Tigers, finishing 10th overall.

Michigan won the race for the second year in a row with 57 points. The Tigers finished the 5k race in 10th with 270 points.

Missouri Assistant Coach Rebecca Wilmes was excited about Missouri's result in this competitive race.

"We ran well, there were no gimmies in this race, but it was a good day. We took some good steps."

Bales led the way for the Tigers with a time of 17:08; good enough for tenth place overall.

Junior Kate Greer (Marshalltown, Iowa) finished 28th with a personal-best time of 17:27. Her previous personal-best was 18:03, when she finished 71st overall in the 2004 Notre Dame Invitational.

Tiger sophomore Ellen Ries (Ryan, Iowa) finished third for the Tigers and 60th overall with a time of 17:53. Angela Potrykus (Evergreen, Colo.) and Trisa Nickoley (Tecumseh, Kan.) finished fourth and fifth for the Tigers respectively.

Kasey Kimball (Eureka, Mo.), Maddie Schueler (Louisville, Ky.), Carolyn Rauen (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Kristina Werner (Moberly, Mo.) also finished for the Tigers.

The Tigers will split their men's and women's teams on Oct. 13. Some of the Tigers will compete in the Bradley Classic on Oct. 13, in Peoria, Ill., and some will compete in the Pre-NCAA Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. on Oct. 14.
