Cross Country- Earned Second Team All- SEC (11th) for the season... Competed in 5 meets for the Tigers... Was second to cross the line for the team at the Notre Dame Invitational... Then became the first to cross the line strutting the black and gold at the SEC Championship... Placed 11th at the Championship and earned a new PR of 24:16.3... Competed at the NCAA Midwest Regional and received a new PR in the 10k with a time of 31:31.1 shaving off over a minute from his old personal best.
Cross Country- Was the 12th Tiger in at the season-opening Iowa State Invitational, placing 37th overall in 26.34...Hit his first of two PR's during the season at the Greater Louisville Classic, navigating the 8k course in 25:20.27...His second PR came at the SEC Championships in Nashville, TN, where he was the 5th Tiger in, 27th overall, in 24:44.52...Finished the season at the NCAA Midwest Regional, finishing the 10k course in 32:41.17
Indoor Track- Sam started the season with a PR for the mile, placing 5th at the Missouri Invitational in 4:17.09...His second PR came at the second home meet of the season, the Missouri Collegiate Challenge where he placed 2nd in the 3k with a final time of 8:28.85...Ended the season at the Indoor SEC Championships in Fayetteville, AR, where he competed in the 3k and was part of the 8th-place DMR team
Outdoor Track- Opened up his season with an exciting performance in the Steeplechase at the Missouri Relays, running under the previous meet record to finish 2nd in 9:16.69...Followed that performance up with a 5th-place finish in the 1500m at the Arkansas Spring Invitational before dipping below the 9-minute mark in the Steeplechase at the Crimson Tide Invitational, winning the event in 8:56.75...Went on to place 12th at the highly-competitive Mt. SAC Relays, crossing the line in 9:07.96 for the Steeple...Represented the Tigers at home in the SEC Championships in both the Steeple and 5k...Finished the season at the NCAA West Preliminary Round
Cross Country- Took 28th at the Missouri Cross Country Challenge, finishing the 8K course in 29:15.38...Crossed the line in 26:21 at the Notre Dame Invitational, placing 152nd on the 5-mile course...Competed at the NCAA Pre-National meet, finishing in 27:02 to earn 206th place...Ended the season with a 77th finish at the Big 12 Championships, running a personal record of 26:24.50
Indoor Track- Ran unattached at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge, placing 3rd in the 3000m, running 8:46.52
Outdoor Track- Won the 3000m Steeplechase at the Missouri Relays running unattached and crossing the line in 9:33.41...Also ran in the 1500m at the Missouri Relays, finishing 10th in 4:02.53...Had his second win at the Kansas Relays, where he ran the 3000m Steeplechase unattached in 9:29.11
Sam ran for Moberly HS under coach Scott Knox, and for the Brocaw Blazers club...He broke the Moberly HS Record in the 5K his sophomore (16:01) and junior (15:37) year...Earned All-Conference honors (2007-2008), and was Conference Champion (2009-2010)...Was All-District (2008) and District Champion (2009-2010)...Was an All-State athlete for Cross Country (2009-2010)...Conference and District Champion for the 1600m, 3200m (2010, 2011) and 4x800m (2011)...Earned All-State honors for the 1600m (2010, 2011)...He set the MSHSAA Class 3 District 4 Record in the 3200mm in 2010 (9:41)...Broke the Moberly HS Record in the 1600m his junior (4:21) and senior year (4:18)
