11 Tigers Earn USTFCCCA Academic Honors

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Eleven members of the Mizzou track and field program earned US Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors as announced by the USTFCCCA on Friday (July 30). In all, four Tiger men and seven Tiger women - highlighted by Shannon Leinert's (Eureka, Mo.) perfect 4.00 grade point average - made the cut. Leinert was one of only 28 women nationally to have a 4.00 GPA.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event. In all, 551 women nationally earned All-Academic status, which is a USTFCCCA record, while 357 men were dubbed All-Academic.

Earning All-Academic honors for the Tiger women was Katie Evans (Powersville, Mo.), Leslie Farmer (Jefferson City, Mo.), Laura Greenfield (Liberty, Mo.), Leinert, Angela Potrykus (Evergreen, Colo.), Ellen Ries (Ryan, Iowa) and Kaitie Vanatta (Littleton, Colo.). For the men Nick Adcock (Kansas City, Mo.), Tim Cornell (Columbia, Mo.), Phillip King (Columbia, Mo.) and Asa Wyatt (Poplar Bluff, Mo.) were honored.
