Rohr Earns Conference Honor
April 28, 2009
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Senior Chris Rohr seems to thrive on the big stage, and after his first place hammer throw performance at the 100th Drake Relays this past Saturday, the Lee's Summit native was tabbed as the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week. Rohr performed in two events on Saturday, competing against some of the country's best in both the men's discus and hammer throw and finished first in the hammer and sixth in the discus. Rohr's toss of 235 feet, 11 inches (71.92 meters) on his fifth throw was good enough for top spot, while his throw of 173 feet, one inch (52.77 meters) placed him sixth in the discus. Rohr not only broke a school record he already owned, he leap-frogged familiar foe Walter Henning of LSU by .02 meters and is currently ranked first in the USTFCCCA rankings. Rohr and the Tigers will be in action for the last time this week at the Arkansas Twilight meet before the conference championships May 15-17.
