Busy Week For Track and Field
April 15, 2009
COLUMBIA, Mo. - After another strong outing in the Tom Botts Invitational last weekend, there will be very little time for rest this week, as the Mizzou Track squad will participate in the Mt. San Antonio College Combined Events and Relays Meet at Azusa Pacific University, and the John McDonnell Invitational in Arkansas this weekend.
The Tigers look to add to the 16 total NCAA-qualifiers they had after the meet on Saturday, as the women’s team took first place in the four-team meet with 225.5 total points, while the men’s team finished second, scoring 191 points on the day. Missouri had 15 first place finishes Saturday and Krishna Lee was named the meet’s Outstanding Female Athlete with her two first place and one second place finish.
The busy week begins today with the combined event meet and concludes on Thursday, while a few of the Missouri distance runners will compete in the relay portion on Friday. Also on Friday, the Missouri throwers will kick off the two-day competition at the University of Arkansas. The John McDonnell Invitation will have the same feel of the Missouri Relays, with both collegiate and high school teams both participating in the two-day event.
The MtSAC combined event meet is one of the most recognized events in the country for multi-event athletes, and has had such winners and Olympians as Jackie Joyner Kersee, Bryan Clay and Dave Johnson. The Tigers will be represented by Nick Adcock, Kaela Rorvig, Lars Rise, Lauren Begany and Lindsey Boldt in California, as this marks the first true test of the athletes so far this year.
Results of all the events this weekend can be found at the Azuza Pacific Athletics site, apu.edu/athletics and at FlashResults.com. |
