COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou track and field team will compete two of its student-athletes at this weekend's NCAA Indoor Championships at the Idaho-Jacksons Indoor Track in Nampa, Idaho. The event, which will run from March 9-10 is hosted by Boise State. The two qualifying athlete for Mizzou are Ricky West (men's 800m run) and Malcolm Pennix (South Bend, Ind.).
ESPN3 will stream the meet live from 6:30-10:45 p.m. (CT) on March 9 and 7-10:15 (CT) on March 10. A tape delay of the championship will air Sunday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU. NCAA.com and broncosports.com will stream what ESPN3 is not covering on Friday (11-6:30 p.m. CT) and Saturday (11:30-7 pm CT).
West, who owns the nation's seventh-best time in the 800m run at 1:47.81. He is the reigning Big 12 Champion in the event in what appears to be a wide open field heading into the Championships. Minnesota's Harun Abda is the nation's No. 1 seed at 1:46.97, less than a second ahead of West as the top 10 competitors are separated by just a second in the seeding. The preliminary heats of the 800m run will be contested at 8 p.m. on Friday while the finals will be run at 8:35 p.m. (CT) on Saturday.
Pennix is the nation's No. 8 seed in the long jump with a season-best mark of 7.74m (25-4 ¾). His mark was set in the season-opening meet as he has yet to reach that mark again. Damar Forbes of LSU is the nation's top seed in the event at 8.12m. Pennix will jump at 6:15 p.m. (CT) on Friday in the finals.
