Eugene, Ore. - Seniors Laura Roxberg and Malcolm Pennix took center-stage for the Tigers today on a cloudless day two of the NCAA Championships at Hayward Field. Pennix closed out his career in the black and gold with a 18th place finish in the field, fouling on a couple big marks before hitting his final jump of 7.48m (24-6.5).
Pennix's successful career with the Tigers saw a couple shifts on the record boards as he claimed two spots on the All-Time Top Ten lists. He holds the No. 5 place for the long jump after his 7.82m (25-8) performance at the 2012 Big 12 Championships, and then the No. 8 for the 4x100m as a member of the 41.98 team at the Ole Miss Invitational earlier this year. Pennix came to Mizzou in 2011 after competing in the NJCAA for the Kansas City Community College. He brought with him a NJCAA Championship TItle in the long jump, and now adds three NCAA Championship finishes to his collegiate resume.
Roxberg also comes away with an 18th place finish, crossing in 4:21.52. Although her time wasn't enough to earn her a spot in Saturday's final, she'll have one final go-around in the Tiger gold at the USATF Championships (June 19-23) in Des Moines, IA. The Kansas-native will close out her outstanding career with a pair of Missouri School Records in the mile (4:34.59) and 1500m (4:13.53), another All-Time Top Ten spot in the 1000m (2:45.63), two Big 12 titles, four All-Big 12 finishes, two All-SEC finishes, and three NCAA Championships qualifications.
Sophomore Katrine Haarklau
