COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou senior decathlete Lars Rise (Trondheim, Norway) currently sits in fourth place overall in the decathlon after day one at the Mt. SAC Combined Events in Azusa, Calif. The Tiger senior scored 4,047 points in the day's five events, ranking just 105 points back of first-place Eric Broadbent. Rise, the national runner-up in the heptathlon during the indoor season, has two of his best events - the javelin and discus throw - at today's competition.

Rise began his day by clocking a time of 11.19 in the 100m dash, good for 819 points. He then turned in an awesome performance in the long jump, measuring in at 7.42m, good for 915 points, his top day-one point total in any of the five events. He tallied a shot put mark of 15.07m (49-5 ½), good for 794 points. He then scored 749 points in the high jump after clearing 1.94m (6-4 ½) and closed his day by running 50.98 in the 400m dash, adding 770 points to his total.
