Janae Strickland enters her second year on the Tiger staff as an undergraduate coach. Strickland, the Tigers' indoor and outdoor shot put record holder, qualified for the 2004 USATF Olympic Trials. Strickland in 2004 also won the NCAA Mideast Regional title with a new region record in the shot put. Strickland earned her second all-time All-America honor in 2004 with an eighth-place showing at the NCAA Outdoor meet. Strickland, a five-time All-Big 12 performer, placed second at the Big 12 Outdoor with her personal-best, school record toss of 55-6¼ (16.92m).
In 2005, Strickland was runner-up at the USATF Indoor Championships.
Strickland is the daughter of five-time Tiger All-American Lorinda Richardson who was a Missouri sprinter and long jumper in the mid-1980s.
Strickland has completed her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Missouri and is now currently substitute teaching.
