Knut Sommerfeldt will be entering his first year on the Missouri Track and Field staff switching gears from being a student-athlete. Sommerfeldt won his fourth Big 12 Championship title in the outdoor 2003 season after his school record of 7,685 points in the decathlon. Sommerfeldt won three decathlon and one indoor heptathlon conference title as a Tiger. A native of Norway, Sommerfeldt ranks as the number one decathlete in the country and in the Top 50 in the world. Sommerfeldt is continuing to persue his undergraduate degree and will graduate in the spring of 2004 with a double degree in music performance and communications. Knut's brother, Bjorn, is currently a freshman on the Tiger track and field team and sister, Eli, was also a standout on the University's track team.
