His season-best mark in the shot came at the Iowa State Classic where he finished fifth overall with a toss of 17.72m ... Threw 15.85m in the weight at the Missouri Invitational, a personal-best tally. Outdoor:NCAA Preliminary Round qualifier in the shot put and discus throw after turning in season- and personal-best marks in both events ... His best shot put mark of 17.81m came at the Kip Janvrin Open where he won the event ... He also won the discus with a throw of 52.47m at the Kip Janvrin Open ... Season-best in the discus came at the Big 12 Championships as he finished just shy of All-Big 12 honors with a throw of 53.86m ... He did however earn All-Big 12 honors in the shot put with an eighth-place finish at 16.97m.
2010: Indoor: Earned All-Big 12 honors in the shot put after turning in a season-best toss of 16.93m (55-6 ½) to earn eighth place at the Championships ... Saw his marks progress from 15.42m (50-7 ¼) to his eighth-place throw at the Big 12 Championships, adding nearly five feet ... His mark at the Big 12 Championships was nearly two feet longer than his previous collegiate-best mark, which was 16.48m (54-1), set at the Bill Bergan Invitational ... Another notable throw came at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge where he tossed 16.29m (53-5 ½) ... Also competed in the weight throw throughout the season, turning in a season-best mark of 14.78m (48-6) at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge. Outdoor: All-Big 12 honoree after finishing seventh in the shot put at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships with a throw of 16.74m (54-11 ¼) ... That mark was an outdoor personal-best mark by a significant margin ... Also competed in the discus throw at the Big 12 Championships as he finished 15th in the event with a throw of 47.86m (157-0) ... His season-best toss in the discus throw came at the Arkansas Twilight where he turned in an effort of 49.56m (162-7) as he finished seventh overall in the event ... His second-best mark of the season in the shot put also came at the Arkansas Twilight as he placed third overall with a throw of 16.27m (53-4 ½).
High School: Three-time MSHSAA State Champion in the shot put during his time at Lee's Summit High School ... Three-time MSHSAA All-State honoree in the discus from 2007-09 ... Discus conference champion from 2006-09 and was the conference champion in the shot put from 2007-09 ... District discus and shot put champion in 2008 and 2009 ... Was also a two-time All-Conference and All-District honoree as a defensive end on the football team in 2008 and 2009 ... Led his track team to a MSHSAA Class 4A State runner-up finish and led Lee's Summit West to a Class 4A title in 2007 ... Holds career-best marks of 18.33m (60-1 ¾) in the shot put and 55.98m (183-8) in the discus ... Member of the honor roll during each year of high school.
