Dear Prospective Dancer:
The 2012-13 tryout information is now available! All prospective dancers must be accepted by the University of Missouri PRIOR to auditions. You must be a full time student at Mizzou to be a Golden Girl. The tryout application deadline is April 16, 2012.
Due to the high volume of e-mails and requests for personal visits I have established pre-tryout clinics consisting of a question and answer session at the end of each clinic. At that time we will discuss the tryout procedure and attire, practice and time commitment, competition...and anything else you need to know regarding the Golden Girls and the University of Missouri. There is a $10.00 fee for each session.
Clinic sessions last approximately 2½ hours and are designed to inform you about the tryout process and the Golden Girls. Underclassmen are welcome to attend, but anyone interested in auditioning for the upcoming school year MUST ATTEND AT LEAST ONE CLINIC! You are encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible to better prepare you for auditions. Clinics are open to participants only! Spectators are not allowed. (Please refer to the picture located on this page for an example of required clinic attire).
In order to participate in the clinic sessions, you MUST bring: 1) a photocopy of a current insurance card, and 2) a signed copy of the Medical Release Waiver (available on our website). You WILL NOT be allowed to dance without these forms. If you are under 18, you must have a parent's signature.
In regards to scholarship information, a small book stipend may be available, based on course schedule. The Golden Girls rehearse 3 times a week and travel to at least 3 away football games. They attend all home football and basketball games.
Any student wanting to audition MUST BE PRESENT AT AUDITIONS, as well as a mandatory meeting on Sunday, April 29th at 9 a.m. Video tapes will not be accepted. The only exception to this rule will be a conflict with prom on Friday night only. Those dancers must get prior approval to send in a video for their preliminary score. The videotape deadline will be April 9, 2012.
All choreography will be taught during tryouts so it's impossible to narrow down any specific skill(s) to work on. You will however be given an idea of what you can expect at the clinic sessions. In the meantime, practice straight-arm pom, all technical skills including leaps and turns, and work on your flexibility.

All registration is done at clinics - No pre-registration is required!
*all clinics will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m.
*In order to participate you must have your signed Medical Release Form and a COPY of your insurance card. A copy machine will not be available. You must have these two items or you will not be allowed to dance.

From Kansas City - I-70, Exit Stadium Drive and turn right (south), turn right on Mick Deaver Drive (between Faurot Field and the Hearnes Center), turn right on Champions Drive, building is on the right at the bottom of the hill
From St. Louis - I-70, Exit Hwy 63 South, exit Stadium Drive and turn right, turn left on Mick Deaver Drive (between the Hearnes Center and Faurot Field), turn right on Champions Drive, building is on the right at the bottom of the hill
