Daytona Beach, Fla. -The Golden Girls, the University of Missouri's dance team, had a successful weekend in Daytona Beach, Fla. at the NDA Collegiate Dance Championships. The ladies competed in two different categories, earning a top-five finish in both. The Golden Girls earned a fourth place finish in the Dance Open IA division and also took fourth overall in the Hip Hop division.

This is the fourth year that the Golden Girls Competition Team has competed in two different categories, and the team's combined overall ranking was the highest amongst all SEC schools in the competition.

"Finishing 4th in two different categories at the world's largest dance and cheerleading competition speaks volumes about this team," said Shannon Fry, coach of the Golden Girls. "The girls spent countless hours of extra time to perfect these routines. They manage full class schedules and are tremendous performers on the football field and basketball court. I don't know what more we could ask of them. What an amazing group of young ladies and ambassadors for the University of Missouri. Mizzou Nation should be so proud!"

BYU took first in the Dance Open IA division, while the University of Louisville topped BYU in the Hip Hop division.
