Brandon Orr began his tenure at the University of Missouri in 2008 as a graduate assistant within the Total Person Program. Orr comes to Columbia after a seven-year stint in the collegiate coaching ranks. His most recent assignment was as a Defensive Assistant at Northwood University, an NCAA Division II institution located in Midland, Mich.
Brandon's responsibilities within the Total Person Program involve assisting the programs of Men's and Women's swimming and diving, wrestling and volleyball. He will directly assist in the monitoring of academic progress and eligibility for Mizzou student-athletes by working in conjunction with the Total Person staff to design and provide activities intended to facilitate athletes' academic achievement and progress towards graduation.
A 2001 graduate of Knox College, Galesburg, Ill., Brandon was an All-American on the playing field as well as in the classroom, earning honors as a three sport athlete in football, wrestling, and track. He also played professionally with NFL Europe's Barcelona Dragons. As an undergraduate he received a triple degree in Philosophy, Spanish (Syntax and Literature), and Secondary Education. He holds Post-Baccalaureates from the University of Barcelona in Second-Language Acquisition, Art History, and Spanish Literature, as well as his Master's Degree in Philosophy and Sociology of Education. He is continuing his studies at the University of Missouri as a Doctoral Student in the Education, School, and Counseling Psychology Department with an emphasis in Sports Psychology.
Brandon's wife, Rachael, director of academic advising within the College of Arts & Sciences, works primarily with undeclared undergraduate students, and is pursuing her PhD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. The couple reside in Columbia.
