Maria Moreno-Pardo joined the Total Person Program at the University of Missouri in August 2011 as the Director of Enhanced Learning overseeing the Enhanced Learning Program (ELP) for all student-athletes who have documented learning disabilities or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). Additionally, she serves as the Academic Coordinator for the Women's Tennis team to monitor their academic progress.
Maria comes to Missouri from San Diego State University where she spent 8 years in their Student-Athlete Academic Support Services program. She began her career at SDSU as an Academic Mentor for football a position she held for two and half years before serving as an interim Academic Advisor for the Men's Soccer, Women's Rowing, and Women's Water Polo teams. In 2006 she was hired as the full time Learning Specialist. Her responsibilities as the Learning Specialist included screening all student-athletes for learning concerns, serving as the liaison to Student Disability Services, coordinating the study hall program, supervising all the academic mentors and tutors and working one-on-one with a case load of student-athletes with learning concerns. Maria was also the Head Women's Cross Country Coach at San Diego Mesa College from 2004-2006.
Maria was raised in San Diego, California and attended SDSU were she was a cross country and track and field student-athlete for four years. She earned a B.A. in Social Science and a Secondary Teaching Credential both from SDSU. She went on to earn a M.S. in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University. She is an active member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) were she currently chairs the Learning Concerns and Enhancements Committee and is a core-member of the Membership Committee. Maria is a 2009 graduate of the N4A Professional Development Institute- Learning Specialist Track and was honored in 2008 with the Professional Promise Award for N4A Region V.
