John Waldorf

Hall of Fame Class:

A star guard/fullback at Missouri, Waldorf made his biggest mark in athletics as an official. As an athlete, Waldorf ran for two TDs in a 25-6 win over Kansas in 1928, and was team captain and an all-Big Six pick in 1929. He was honorable mention choice on MU's All-Century Football Team. After serving as head football coach at Nebraska Wesleyan, Waldorf reigned as one of the country's top football officials for over 30 years. He became the Big Eight's first supervisor of football and basketball officials in 1963. He gave up the basketball responsibilities in 1969, and held the football post until 1975. He also served a term as commissioner of the Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association. In 1984, he became the first official to be inducted in the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame.
