Doug Smith

Hall of Fame Class:

One of five Tigers to have his jersey (number 34) retired at MU, Smith was just the third player in Big Eight history to score more than 2,000 points and grab more than 1,000 rebounds, joining Danny Manning and Wayman Tisdale in that circle. He ranks second in school history in scoring (2,184 points) and first in rebounds (1,305). Smith was the league's player-of-the-year in 1990 and '91, an all-American and Big Eight Male Athlete-of-the-Year in 1991, and a two-time MVP of the Phillips 66 Big Eight Tournament when he led Missouri to the championship in 1989 and '91. From Detroit, Smith was the sixth player chosen in the 1991 NBA Draft by the Dallas Mavericks. He spent four seasons in Dallas, and has also played for the Boston Celtics.
