Dr. Carl D. Settergren, a professor in the department of forestry in the School of Natural Resources, serves as the University's faculty athletics representative to the NCAA and the Big 12 Conference. He works closely with the chancellor and the director of athletics in acting on behalf of the institution in formulating regional and national legislative policy.
A native of Chicago, Ill., Settergren came to Missouri as an undergraduate in 1954, and received his bachelor's degree in 1958, and master's degree in 1960. He earned his Ph.D. in forest hydrology from Colorado State University in 1967.
Settergren has been a member of the MU faculty since 1960, teaching and conducting research in forest ecology and watershed management.
Settergren is a member of the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee, the group composed of faculty, staff, students and alumni who advise the chancellor and the director of athletics on matters of university athletic policy. He was chair of the committee from 1986-88. He served on the chancellor's special task force on intercollegiate athletics funding in 1986.
He also serves as the National Chairman of the NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship Committee.
Settergren and his wife, Roberta, are the parents of two daughters, Amy and Susan.
