Mike Alden and Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin welcome slew of excited Tigers fans
From Director of Athletics Mike Alden
Tim Hickman is in his 22nd year at the University of Missouri and is in his third as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Operations. He spent the seven previous years as Associate Athletics Director for Operations and member of the executive team.
Hickman currently is the point person for the transition into the Southeastern Conference. He also oversees all business activities for the Missouri Department of Athletics, including development and oversight of the budget, purchasing and daily office operations while additionally directing the operations of Mizzou Arena and the Hearnes Center. He also oversees the areas of facilities, food service and computing operations. Hickman currently works as the primary administrator with the sports of baseball, softball and soccer. Softball has made three straight appearances in the Women's College World Series.
Hickman became the Assistant Director of the Hearnes Center in 1990 and spent two years in that role before being named Director of the Hearnes Center. Shortly after Tiger Athletics and Hearnes operations merged, he was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director in July of 2001 and in May of 2002; he was promoted to Associate Athletic Director.
During Hickman's time at Mizzou he has been involved with securing some of the largest concerts ever to come to Columbia including the Rolling Stones, Elton John and Kenny Chesney to name a few. Hickman was also involved with the design and construction of nearly all of the sports park improvements over the last 10 years including the award winning Mizzou Arena. These improvements were a result of the successful Champions for Life Capital Campaign implemented from 2000-2008. In his role as Chief Financial Officer for the department of Athletics, Hickman has consistently managed a balanced budget that will be nearly $60,000,000 for Fiscal year 2012.
Along with his duties with MU, Hickman is also been heavily involved in the Columbia community. He serves on the boards of the United Way and the Callaway Bank. During his tenure, Hickman has also served on numerous boards and committees including the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Mid-Missouri Tourism Council, Missouri Balloon Corporation and the Central Missouri Food Bank to name a few.
A Certified Facility Executive (CFE), Hickman is a past board member of the International Association of Assembly Managers (IAAM) and is a current member of the College Athletic Business Management Association (CABMA) and the Country Music Association (CMA).
A 1989 graduate of the University of Missouri, Hickman earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. He and his wife Karen, also a University of Missouri graduate, have one son, Christopher (16), and one daughter, Anna (14).
