Whit Babcock enters his fifth year at the University of Missouri as the Executive Associate Director of Athletics.
A native of Harrisonburg, Va., Babcock came to Mizzou in 2007 following a five-year stint as the Assistant Athletics Director and Executive Director of Development for West Virginia University. Prior to his tenure at WVU he worked at Auburn University serving as the Assistant Athletic Director for Development for five years.
At Missouri, Babcock oversees the External Operations of the department which includes all fund-raising matters related to the Tiger Scholarship Fund, and provides directorial oversight of Marketing and Promotions, Athletics Ticket Office, Game Operations, Licensing, Internet Services, Media Relations, Mizzou Sports Properties (multi-media and corporate partnership rights) and Men's Basketball. Since his arrival, Mizzou has achieved all-time highs in donor participation, fundraising, season ticket sales, and department-wide revenue generation. The men's basketball program is coming off its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
He was recently appointed to the NCAA Men's Basketball Issues Committee. Babcock also serves as the 2011-12 President of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD). His Columbia-area community involvement includes participation as a member of the Advisory Board of the University of Missouri Children's Hospital.
A former collegiate athlete himself, Babcock lettered four seasons for the James Madison University Baseball program, serving as team captain during his senior campaign. He earned his bachelor's degree in kinesiology and sports studies in 1992 from JMU and later received his master's degree in sport management from West Virginia University in 1996.
Whit and his wife Kelly have three sons, Andrew, Brett, and Eli.
