On Wednesday, three members of the Mizzou Department of Athletics made a trip through North Central Missouri as part of the Statewide Outreach Program. MU Director of Athletics Mike Alden, the "Voice of the Tigers" Mike Kelly and Associate Director of Media Relations Josh Murray visited Unionville, Princeton, Trenton, Chillicothe and Malta Bend on the day-long trip.
The tour began in Unionville, where Alden and Kelly spoke at an assembly at Putnam County High School. Superintendent Heath Halley, along with avid Tiger fan Todd Hatfield, served as host for the Tigers at PCHS. Following the assembly, the Tiger staffers visited the `Book Barn' on the square in downtown Unionville for coffee before heading to their next stop.
Alden, Kelly and Murray then headed to Princeton for a Rotary luncheon where they spoke to a group of 65-70 people. Judge Brad Funk hosted the luncheon, with his wife Maureen and daughter Alisa also in attendance. A visit to the University of Missouri Extension Office followed the luncheon.
Next up were stops at the Barnes-Baker Automotive dealerships in both Trenton and Chillicothe to visit with Tigers fans followed by a stop at 105.9 The Wave radio station in Chillicothe. A gathering at Citizens Bank and Trust in Chillicothe was next on the agenda, where Alden and Kelly spoke to a group of about 30 MU supporters.
The Mizzou group then headed back to Columbia, stopping at the Waggin Wheel in Malta Bend on its return trip.
