Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri has won the Midwest Ford Dealers MU-KU Border Showdown Series with the final tally of 22.5-17.5 in Mizzou's favor. After trailing 13.0-5.0 through 11 events, the Tigers went on a 17.5-4.5 point run the remaining 15 events to take the series for the second time in the three-year history of the Showdown.

Points were awarded for different events throughout the 2004-05 season to each school for winning head-to-head matchups in the sports of baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball, women's swimming, women's tennis and volleyball. Points were awarded in the sports of cross country, golf, and track for the team that finished higher at Big 12 championship events. Bonus points were awarded for contests that took place in post-season competition (Big 12 or NCAA tournaments).

Mizzou came out on top in 15 of the 26 events in which the Tigers and Jayhawks competed against each other this season. Mizzou won 11 of the final 15 possible matchups with KU from the end of February through the end of May. The traveling Border Showdown trophy will be officially awarded to Mizzou Athletics at the annual Kansas City Sports Commission Banquet held on June 21 and will be on display at Mizzou Arena for the next year.
