A Common Question Adults Ask:
Question: "Tennis seems strange to me. Why should I play?"
Answer: "As an adult, think of the games you can really get together with other people to play. Football? Basketball? Soccer? Rugby? Not likely. But it is easy to get a friend and go out on the courts. And it's not as hard to learn to start playing as you might think. Especially the way they teach at the Green Tennis Center at Mizzou!"

Private Tennis Instruction
You wanna get better? Take a lesson or two from one of our pros to find out where you're at and what you should be focusing on! The Green Tennis Center at Mizzou has the best teaching staff in mid-Missouri, hands down! Private instruction with any of our three teaching pros can be scheduled either with the pro, or through the front desk. All of our pros have a great sense of humor, and while we know you will enjoy one-on-one instruction, we also know you will learn a lot. Our philosophy is never to "over-talk" you. Your muscles only learn through repetition. We'll discuss what you need and then, through hitting, work with you so you improve. Private Instruction will run for one hour, but we've been known to go over. If you wish, we can also videotape you, so you can see yourself in slow motion. Video is a high-level accompaniment to our excellent sport instruction.

Videotape Analysis
It's a fact that one of the best teachers . . . is you! It's one thing if your pro says, "Hey, you're dropping your racket head when you hit your forehand volleys!" It's a completely different animal when you can actually SEE what you are doing. Well, that's where videotape analysis comes into play. During our get-together, we'll actually videotape you, and then show you what you are doing (right and wrong) in slow motion. It is a very effective (and a very modern) method of teaching. A lot of the top players modeled themselves after this pro or that pro. They say they "pictured" what they were emulating. Pictures can be very beneficial. It's an "opinion" if someone tells you something. It's something completely different when you SEE with your own eyes what they are talking about!

Adult Group Clinics
Members who are interested in tennis clinics should contact the front desk or speak with one of the pros. Clinics can consist of as few as two individuals up to as many as six. We focus on strategy or specific strokes, and then reinforce key points by working you through drills. Tennis clinics can be set up for a one-time meeting, or we can set up a schedule for your group. Clinics run for one hour. Bring comfortable clothes, your rackets, and a good sense of humor - we like to cut up as we teach!
