Mizzou Arena » Women's Basketball
Welcome to Mizzou Arena, called the finest on-campus basketball arena in America by ESPN.com. Home to Mizzou Basketball, Mizzou Arena produces one of the country's top home-court venues thanks to state-of-the art training facilities, locker rooms, which are being renovated in 2014, and a full-length practice gym, which is open to Tiger student-athletes 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
With the move to Mizzou Arena, the women's basketball team more than doubled its locker room space. Awaiting the players once they arrive from class, practice or games, is a lounge adjacent to the locker room.
The player's lounge is a place for members of the team to relax between classes or practices. It includes a big-screen television and is comfortably furnished with enough chairs and sofas to fit most of the team at any one time.
The lounge includes a refrigerator and cabinet/sink area, as well as a computer work station and printer, so players can work on their studies or check e-mail.
A separate alcove is located next to the center of the lounge to allow the players to be taped prior to practice , while still enjoying the comforts of the lounge.
Adjacent to the player's lounge is the team locker room, which is where Coach Pingeton addresses the team at halftime, before and after games.
Each player has her own locker stall, which has separate storage spaces for team equipment and personal items. A personalized name plate is located above each locker.
The front of the locker room contains a dry-erase board for quick X's-and-O's adjustments, as well as a big-screen TV. A digital clock, tied into the official arena scoreboard clock, allows the staff to efficiently relay half-time coaching information while getting the Tigers back on the court quickly.
Video analysis of one's own play, as well as that of her opponent, is a key component of a successful women's basketball program, and the Tigers do so in their own state-of-the-art video classroom, located adjacent to the player lounge.
The 18-seat theater is equipped with all of the tools necessary for comprehensive instructional analysis of practice or game film. Like many of the rooms in the player-development area, it is tied into an arena-wide system that allows coaches to pull up the same video file in multiple locations.
Albrecht Family Practice Facility
When visitors come to Mizzou Arena, they are struck by the size and beauty of the arched roof that covers the main arena floor. What is often overlooked by the casual fan, however, is the gem of a facility the Tigers have at their disposal when the arena floor is in use for concerts or other special events.
Tucked away on the west side of Mizzou Arena is the Albrecht Family Practice Facility, which includes a full-size competition basketball floor and scoreboard.
The spacious practice facility floor allows for the team to break out to any of the eight baskets surrounding the gym; in fact, the footprint of the of the Albrecht Family Practice Facility is larger than the old competition floor at the Hearnes Center.
The practice facility is conveniently located adjacent to the player-development area, which is comprised of the locker room and player lounge, video classroom, strength and conditioning area, and sports medicine center. The men's and women's basketball offices each have balconies that overlook the north side of the facility.
