""The preparation we go through in the summer and off-season with Coach Deets pays dividends for us during the year. From our strength and conditioning goals to monitoring our nutrition, Coach Deets has us prepared to be at our best once we step on the court."

Strength and Conditioning
One of the most crucial elements in the development of a basketball player is the strength training that takes place before, during, and after the season. At Missouri, the Tiger strength and conditioning staff spend a great deal of time educating the players about training and nutrition. The strong emphasis on training ensures that players are in peak condition and are able to compete at the highest level by providing basketball-specific strength, conditioning, and athletic development programs. Whether in the weight room, on the basketball court, or on the track, numerous resources are utilized to elevate each player's game.
Programs to help achieve the desired strength and power gains have been scientifically designed for each specific individual and the demands of each position. Continual evaluation provides each player with consistent feedback on his training results. With customized programs and constant, performance-based interactions with the coaching staff, the players are provided with a clear path necessary to accomplish their goals.
With the addition of the Mizzou Arena's state-of-the-art performance enhancement facility, the Tigers will move into one of the top-of-the-line exercise areas in all of college basketball. Proper nutrition is also a key element to success, which is why Strength and Conditioning Coach David Deets and his staff teach players about practical eating strategies and structured supplementation, ensuring that they are taking in quality nutrients at optimal times. Goals such as gaining body mass, losing body fat, and maintaining current weight are determined and carried out by encouraging players to eat for fuel rather than simply for pleasure. It has been proven that good nutrition is a major contributing factor in enhancing performance. At Mizzou, this is the ultimate goal.
The Mizzou Basketball Strength and Conditioning center is also in the midst of a three-year renovation project, which will update all strength training and cardio vascular equipment used by the Tigers throughout the year.
