Memorial Stadium is undergoing a facelift, as part of a $200 million facilities master plan that affects nearly every area of the Mizzou Sports Park. In addition to Memorial Stadium, current projects under construction include the Old Hawthorne Golf Facility ($1.4 Million, expected completion Fall 2013) and the Mizzou Tennis Complex outdoor grandstands and locker room (Cost TBD, expected completion Spring 2014).
The projects at Memorial Stadium include renovation of the West Tower to increase premium seating and renovate media seating ($9.75 Million, expected completion 8/31/13), and expansion of the East side.
- Total Project Cost: $45.5M
- Expected completion date: August 30, 2014
- 4,100+ Upper Deck seats
- 1,200+ premium seats: 800 Club and 400 Loge
- Premium Club indoor space: 23,000+ square ft. (Three times the size of the West Side Club)
- Accessible Accommodations: Will meet or exceed all ADA requirements for seating and access
- Spectator Amenities: Expanded concourse, enhanced/expanded restroom and concession areas, new ticket office location, more points of entry and new field lighting
In addition, the North Hill and iconic "Rock M" were moved closer to the field in the summer of 2013 to expand the North concourse and bring the hill fans closer to the action. The field-level bleachers have been removed from the North end zone to facilitate better sight lines for fans sitting on the hill.
Watch a series of videos that our friends from the Mizzou Network have produced to chronicle the various aspects of the Memorial Stadium facelifts! They include a sit-down with Athletic Director Mike Alden, a feature where Alden goes 200 feet in the air to operate one of the two large construction cranes, and another feature showing the final pieces of sod going onto the North Hill.
