Mizzou Baseball Player & Pitcher of the Week - April 19

Missouri took a win in the series opener against Oklahoma State last Friday, by a score of 9-2. However, the Tigers dropped the next two games of the weekend and now sit at 19-16 on the year and have a record of 4-8 in the Big 12.


Player of the Week

Brett Nicholas - Junior - Phoenix, Ariz.


Mizzou junior Brett Nicholas hit .467 in the Tigers' four games last week and extended her hitting streak to 11 games. After going 2-for-4 last Wednesday against Missouri State, Nicholas had a .455 average in the three-game weekend series with Oklahoma State. He was 2-for-3 with two RBI in each of the first two games with the Cowboys and hit a home run in game one of the weekend. He had a single in the final game of the weekend to take his streak to 11 games. Nicholas has had two hits in nine of the 11 games of his hitting streak and has had multiple hits in 13 of the last 16 games. On the season, he his hitting .380 with seven home runs and 42 RBI. 



Pitcher of the Week

Nick Tepesch - Junior - Blue Springs, Mo.


Junior Nick Tepesch picked up his third win of the season in the Tigers' 9-2 win in Friday's series opener with Oklahoma State. Tepesch struck out eight batters in 7.0 innings pitched. He allowed two runs and four hits. He opened Friday's game by sitting down the Cowboys in order in the first inning, including two strikeouts and he struck out the last two batters he faced. Tepesch leads the team with 41 strikeouts on the season.


This Wednesday, the Tigers will be at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City to take on arch-rival Kansas at 6:30 p.m. Mizzou is back at Taylor Stadium this weekend for a three-game series with Kansas State, starting at 6 p.m. on Friday.
